CarMD Diagnostic Vehicle Tool Review
What is CarMD?
CarMD is a more old fashioned car diagnostic tool. It reads codes that your vehicle outputs when the check engine light is on. Unfortunately you still have to look up the codes yourself to see what they mean. However, it's a durable and easy tool to use otherwise.
How Does CarMD Work?
You can run detailed reports on your car for up to 3 vehicles. They must be built after 1996, have a gas powered engine - they can be foreign or domestic models. You plug the device into your vehicles port, turn the device on and it will output error codes from your car's computer chip. You can then either hook up the device via. USB to computer and receive a report on what the code means or take the code it gives you can look it up yourself online.
How Much Does It Cost?
CarMD is currently selling on Amazon for $150. A much cheaper option and higher rated is the FIXD diagnostic tool for $59. CarMD is simply too old of technology. It doesn't have a smartphone app and doesn't use bluetooth. It uses old fashioned wires and the screen isn't as pretty but it still gets the job done, albeit for more money!
Does It Really Work, Would You Recommend Buying It?
Honestly, there are way better tools out there, like those mentioned on our home page. This particular one is too expensive to compete with newer technology available. While it works fine in terms of what it is designed to do, it's not top of the line in any category.
